about

"someday, maybe" it is a cynical yet optimistic look at the future with a production aesthetic meant to harken back to the Motown/ Spector era. For this recording, I tried to use all acoustic instruments rather than sampled ones to give a hand-crafted, analog sound. I also went for intuition in performance rather than perfection, using what I could from the initial takes of things like the spinet piano and guitar solo.

lyrics

someday, maybe, I’ll be, waiting for you
blue skies, serene, take this and don’t be hasty
I don’t know how much more I can spend
it takes me down with the back of the knife
and then I’m on my feet again
tangled up and bruised in the shoulder

someday, you’ll see, I’ll be the greatest lover
I’ll take this blue pill, and it will make us last forever
but that's the dumbest crap in the world
you can’t get hard you gotta try to change your diet or just get in some exercise
you can't make no excuse to think twice oh no don’t think twice honey what's your name?

I don’t know how much more I can spend
it takes me down the alley with the back of the knife
and then I’m on my knees again
tangled up and blue in the shoulder
don’t think twice
oh no, don’t think twice
sweet mama tell me what's your game
oh no honey what's your name
